Ziele: Die Arbeit untersucht die
Häufigkeit und Verteilung osteopathischer Befunde bei Früh- und Termingeborenen
auf einer neonatalen Intensivstation (NICU), insbesondere in Bezug auf
Gestationsalter und Geburtsgewicht. Ziel ist es, durch qualitative und
quantitative Analysemethoden präzisere Erkenntnisse zu gewinnen.

Studiendesign: Beobachtende, retrospektive Querschnittsanalyse mit qualitativen und
quantitativen Elementen. Basierend auf Daten aus dem Archiv des Osteopathischen
Zentrums für Kinder in Wien (OZK).

Methode: Qualitative Daten aus Patientenakten wurden manuell und interpretativ
gemäß der qualitativen Inhaltsanalyse codiert. Diese Codierungen wurden
anschließend quantifiziert und durch einfache Häufigkeitsanalysen,
Gruppenvergleiche und Kontingenzanalysen ausgewertet.



Ergebnisse: Hohe Prävalenz von Befunden im
Thorakalbereich (50%), Abdomen (41%) und Okzipitozervikalbereich (33%).
Spannungen im Diaphragma (33%) und Nabelbereich (26%) und Kompressionen in Höhe
von C0/C1 (24%) waren besonders häufig. Je jünger die Neugeborenen bei Geburt,
desto häufiger beschrieben die Kolleginnen die Befunde unter Verwendung von
Begriffen wie Vitalität und Midline. Termingeborene wiesen häufiger
strukturbezogene Befunde wie Nabel und Leber auf. Das Diaphragma zeigte
Auffälligkeiten in allen Gewichts- und Altersgruppen.

Diskussion: Die qualitative und quantitative
Analyse liefert fundierte Einblicke in osteopathische Befunde bei Neugeborenen.
Die Ergebnisse betonen die Notwendigkeit spezialisierter, an das
Gestationsalter und das Geburtsgewicht angepasster Interventionen. Durch
präzise Codierung und quantifizierte Auswertung konnten mögliche Zusammenhänge
gezeigt werden.

Aims: This study investigates the frequency and
distribution of osteopathic findings in preterm and full-term infants who were
treated in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), particularly in relation to
gestational age and birth weight. The aim is to gain more precise insights in
these findings through the Integration of qualitative and quantitative Analysis
methods.

Study design: This is an observational, retrospective
cross-sectional analysis that integrates both qualitative and quantitative
elements. The study is based on data from the Archive of the Osteopathic Center
for Children in Vienna (OZK).

Methods: Qualitative data from patient records were
manually coded and interpreted according to qualitative content analysis. These
codings were then quantified and evaluated through simple frequency analyses,
group comparisons, and contingency analyses.

Results: The results show a high prevalence of
findings in the thoracic area (50%), abdomen (41%), and occipito-cervical area
(33%). Tensions in the diaphragm (33%) and umbilical area (26%) were
particularly frequent. Compression at the C0/C1 Level (24%) was also common.
The younger the infants were at birth, the more often findings were described
with the osteopathic terms vitality and midline. In contrast, full-term infants
more often had structure-related findings such as umbilicus and liver. The
diaphragm appeared conspicuous across all birthweight and gestational age
groups.

Discussion: The combination of qualitative and
quantitative analysis provides significant insights into osteopathic findings
in newborns. The results underscore the need for specialized osteopathic
interventions, tailored to gestational age and birth weight. The precise coding
and quantified evaluation of the findings allowed for potential correlations
between the findings and variables such as gestational age and birth weight to
be demonstrated.
