Abstract
This study aims to investigate the differences between the Osteopathic and Chiropractic fields, in regards to diagnosis, treatment and post treatment of lumber spine disc bulges. Osteopathy shares a common origin with chiropractic the therapies have remained relatively similar since their creation in the late nineteenth century. Many textbooks are relevant to both professions and techniques are commonly shared. Both therapies were started with the belief that treatment of the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine could affect systemic health. However there are some differences. Historically chiropractors have been more concerned about nerve conduction where as osteopaths have focused more on blood supply. Chiropractors use X-ray as a means of diagnosis where as osteopaths use
more a screening approach.
